Overview

La Bauhinia, nestled within the elegant Shangri-La Paris on Avenue d'Iéna, offers a sophisticated dining experience that seamlessly blends French refinement with subtle Asian influences. This restaurant stands out not only for its prime location in the 16th arrondissement but also for the thoughtful curation of its menu, designed to appeal to discerning guests seeking both classic and innovative flavors.

The space itself is a refined sanctuary, beautifully appointed to enhance the dining experience without overwhelming the senses. The atmosphere is serene yet inviting, making it an ideal choice for intimate gatherings, leisurely brunches, or special celebrations. Whether you're visiting for the Vegan Afternoon Tea—a delicate assortment of pâtisseries and savory bites—or exploring the breakfast offerings like truffle-infused eggs and caviar-topped scrambled eggs, La Bauhinia caters to a clientele appreciative of culinary craftsmanship and elegant presentation.

The culinary highlights are diverse, spanning from the meticulously crafted dim sum and the flavorful Pad Thaï aux Crevettes to the inventive buffet options both sweet and savory. The standout creations by chef Maxence Barbot, especially the pastries, are frequently praised for their balance of texture and depth. Notably, the Vegan Afternoon Tea caters thoughtfully to plant-based diners without compromising on richness or variety.

Customer experiences consistently reflect a high level of service and attention to detail. Guests commend the polished yet warm hospitality where small gestures, such as a birthday macaroon, elevate the overall visit. The seasonal decorations, particularly during Christmas, enrich the ambiance, offering not merely a meal but a memorable moment. While some have noted a wish for more organic tea selections given the premium context, the quality of the ingredients and the artistry in each dish remain impressive.

La Bauhinia excels as a destination for both locals and travelers who value a refined culinary journey in Paris. Its ability to balance French classics with international influences, combined with an elegant setting and attentive staff, makes it a compelling choice. For those seeking a top-tier afternoon tea, an exquisite brunch, or a quiet yet luxurious meal, La Bauhinia delivers an experience worthy of its prestigious setting.

I had a lovely experience at La Bauhinia. The food was tasty and the service was immaculate. I also got offered macaroons as it was my birthday. Thank you for the great service!

This holiday with my mom included London and Paris and lots of afternoon tea. This was our first Parisian experience and it was fabulous! The food was delicious and artfully presented. The hotel and restaurant were beautifully decorated for Christmas and that added to the magical atmosphere. For me and for the enjoyment I get from afternoon tea, you must not compare experiences. Just enjoy each one for the uniqueness it offers. Top 10 experience for sure. Highly recommend!

Went for the seafood brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ironically the plated dishes weren’t my favorite - started with caviar, which was good but not amazing. Then had an egg dish with caviar on top - I enjoyed that a lot. Also enjoyed the aubergine. I thought the mains were just fine but could be because of what we ordered. I much preferred the seafood and the cheese offering, which was so decadent and delicious. And the bread options were to die for, I kept going back for more. The desserts off course were so tasty. I’d recommend going with a bigger group - 4 or more if possible to try more without wasting. I went with just my mom so it obviously felt wrong to get a lot and not eat it all so we limited ourselves- but with a bigger group one can try more. Also the setting is beautiful and the staff is so kind: the service is amazing. Strongly recommend!

We had a lovely experience during our high tea at La Bauhinia. The space is so beautiful and well taken care of. The pastries made by chef Maxence Barbot were truly amazing! So flavorful I can still taste it… The service was as well good and fast. I would say maybe the only note I have is that I am surprised that not all the teas that they serve are bio (on the menu it only says the rooibos is bio). Considering the price you pay for it I would have assumed you should get the best of the best to be honest..actually this should be the case with everything that you order here in my opinion. Maybe they use a lot of bio ingredients, but that is not stated on the menu. Could be a nice touch :)
